Kyabazinga of Busoga William Gabula Nadiope IV and Inhebantu (queen) Jovia Mutesi are expected to host the Muslim community on Friday 5th, April 2024 at the Igenge Palace in Jinja City.

The kingdom premier, Dr Joseph Muvawala, on Monday, April 1, 2024, while addressing the media at Busoga Kingdom headquarters in Jinja city together with Busoga Muslim leaders, said preparations are underway.

Muvawala revealed that Juma prayers will be conducted at the Palace and deputy Mufti Sheikh Muhammed Ali Waiswa will lead the prayers assisted by Busoga Khadi Sheikh Dr Hussein Muhamadi Bowa.

“The prayers will start at 11:00am and I expect all Muslims to pray for the Kyabazinga and Busoga at large to be always peaceful,” Muvawala said.

Muvawala further called upon ministers, Members of Parliament and other leaders from Busoga to come and attend the event.

Iftar on Saturday

Muvawala further revealed that the First deputy Prime Minister and Minister of East Africa Community Affairs, Rebecca Alitwala Kadaga, in conjunction with the Turkish Government is organising an executive Iftar (meal eaten after sunset to breakfast) which will take place at the Civil Service College of Uganda Jinja, on Saturday, April 6, 2024. The Kyabazinga is expected to also grace the event.

Busoga Kingdom’s 2nd deputy premier Alhaj Osman Ahmed Noor, who is co-ordinating the event, said over 5,000 Muslims are expected to attend the Juma prayers at Igenge Palace.

Osman said MTN Uganda has donated the alms to be distributed to the Muslims.

Bowa said he was pleased that the Muslim community will have the last Juma prayers in the month of Ramadan, inside the Kyabazinga’s Igenge Palace.

He urged the Muslims to pray for the Government, the Kyabazinga and Inhebantu, Busoga Lukiiko and for themselves.

He encouraged all district Khadis from the eight Muslim districts of Busoga to mobilise the Muslim community to attend the event in large numbers.
