King Oyo visits Tooro’s largest dairy farm

King Oyo Nyimba Kabamba Iguru on Saturday toured Kabarole Dairy Farm, Tooro’s largest milk-producing farm.
The farm practices intensive zero grazing and produces a total of 1,300 litres of milk per day from only 70 cows.
Although the farm sits on a large piece of land, much of it is being used to grow corn and pasture for the cows. 
All modern dairy farming practices of animal feeding, care, treatment, and maintenance are being adhered to at the farm.
Abooki George Begumisa, the director of Kabarole Dairy Farm, said that the demand for milk in Fort Portal is big.
He has applauded King Oyo for supporting and motivating his subjects to embrace farming as a business.
During the farm tour, King Oyo was left amazed by the infrastructure investment, the animal feed mixing ratio, and the best dairy farming practices. 
The monarch advised dairy farmers in Toro to emphasize the intensive feeding of animals for maximum milk production.
King Oyo was happy to note that Begumisa has greatly improved the capacity of milk production in the Tooro Kingdom.
Kabarole Dairy Farm is among the beneficiaries of the Local Economic Growth Support (LEGS) program that is being implemented by the Ministry of Local Government through the Microfinance Support Centre.
King Oyo expressed gratitude to the Microfinance Support Centre for showing total commitment to his subjects across the Kingdom.
Moses Chebet Kiprotich, the farm manager, said the plan is to be able to add value to the milk being produced at the farm.
