The Kikuube district LC5 chairperson, Peter Banura Araali, was confirmed dead after being involved in a road crash on Saturday evening (April 4).

Vincent Opio Alpha, the district vice-chairperson, said the crash occurred just after 7pm at Kamusunsi trading centre, just after Kiziranfumbi town in Kikuube district along the Hoima-Fort Portal Road.

According to Opio, Banura was knocked by a fast-moving mini bus (drone) heading towards Fort Portal.

This happened a few minutes after Banura had got out of his car to talk to a group of residents by the roadside.

He was rushed to Hoima Regional Referral Hospital, where medics pronounced him dead.

Meanwhile, unconfirmed reports indicated that two other people also died in the same crash.

The police had not issued a statement by the time of writing this update.
