Kiira Motors donates electric bus to NRM patriotism secretariat
Kiira Motors Corporation has donated a brand-new electric bus to the NRM patriotism secretariat to boost patriotism campaigns in the country.
The donation took place on Friday at the 38th National Resistance Movement/Army (NRM/A) Victory Day Anniversary Celebrations at St John’s Secondary School Wakitaka in Jinja City.
The Minister in charge of the Presidency, Milly Babalanda, who announced the donation during the ceremony thanked President Yoweri Museveni for championing mobility in the country.
She reminded Ugandans that the president is the champion of mobility on the African continent and that his efforts continue to yield more results.
“The donation is in support of the patriotism campaign which is championed by President Museveni,” she said.
Acknowledging receipt of the coach, Uganda's first electric bus, Museveni commended the KMC team and later announced his wish to present the coach to Chief Justice Alfonse Owiny Dollo on behalf of the Judiciary.
KMC, a government enterprise championing mission vehicles are the manufacturers of the Kiira EV, Kayoola Solar Bus, and Kiira EVS.
Anniversary celebrations
On January 26th, 1986, the National Resistance Army (NRA) commanded by Museveni captured power, defeating the forces of Gen Tito Okello Lutwa then President of Uganda.
Thirty-eight years on, the country is celebrating 38 years of peace, stability, and steady progress towards economic transformation.
The anniversary celebrations in Jinja which attracted thousands were held under the theme; ‘Building a country we all cherish’.
