Parking on the busy sections of the streets of Kampala Road and Jinja Road has been suspended by the city authority, New Vision Online has learnt.
The public notice issued today, May 14, 2026, by Kampala Capital City Authority (KCCA) says the suspension affects parking from the Entebbe Road junction through Kampala Road up to the Jinja Road/Yusuf Lule junction near Kitgum House.
The authority says the move is intended to improve traffic flow, enhance safety for road users and support better mobility within the city centre, which has in recent months experienced worsening traffic congestion during peak hours.
“On-street vehicle parking along Kampala and Jinja Roads from the Entebbe Road junction to Jinja Road/Yusuf Lule Junction (Kitgum House) has been suspended,” the notice reads.
KCCA has advised motorists to use alternative parking areas along Station Road, Dewinton Road, Said Barre Road and Nkrumah Road.
Drivers have also been encouraged to utilise parking spaces within buildings and premises they intend to access.
The authority further directed motorists to use commercial off-street parking facilities at the National Theatre, Uganda House and the multi-storey car park along Portal Avenue.
The Authority has appealed to motorists to comply with the new parking arrangements and cooperate with enforcement officers as the city authority works toward what it described as a safer and more efficient urban transport system.
