The executive director of Kampala Capital City Authority (KCCA), Hajjat Sharifah Buzeki, has commended the contractor of Kisenyi Road in the Central Division for what she described as satisfactory civil works.

Buzeki noted that the 1km stretch of road, from St Balikuddembe Market (Owino), through the Somali Community and Social Centre, to Rubaga Road, will significantly improve access to the city’s commercial produce hub once completed.

“The progress of the civil works is satisfactory. We remain committed to making Kampala a livable city,” Buzeki said during an impromptu inspection on July 1, 2025.

She said she was pleased to learn from the contractor, RAM Projects Limited, that 65% of the work had been completed.

The visit was aimed at assessing the physical progress, verifying the quality of work, and engaging with the local community.

KCCA contracted RAM Projects Limited to reconstruct the 0.82km road, which includes upgrading the drainage system, laying the sub-base and base layers, and applying asphalt sealing, a protective coating that extends the road’s lifespan and enhances its appearance. The contractor is also constructing a walkway, which is currently at the base preparation stage.

In addition to Kisenyi Road, RAM Projects Limited is working on Ismail Road in Nakawa Division, with both projects valued at sh8.781 billion.

Buzeki urged the business community to support the initiative and actively provide feedback to KCCA to address emerging issues.

She also called on the contractor to accelerate the works and take responsibility for any disruptions, particularly by repairing damaged systems and ensuring drainage channels are fixed promptly to minimise interference with business operations.

Buzeki was accompanied on the tour by Daniel Muhumuza Nuwe-Abine, KCCA's head of public and corporate affairs, along with other officials.
