URC's Richard Nkuna, the principal safety, health and environment officer who attended the event, said the railway line in the area will be repaired to deter encroachment.

“URC is rehabilitating the railway line, and we shall maintain the corridor sustainability by sensitising, deploying and arresting any resident found dumping,” Nkuna said.

The decommissioning was done in partnership with C-Care Uganda and other stakeholders like the Uganda Police, URC United Waste Clean, BINS, among others.

The Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of C-Care, Azhar Sundhoo, said they came in partnership with KCCA two years ago.

The residents, led by their LC 1 chairman, Kasanva zone Christopher Bizimana, said that they need the dump site to be removed.
