The Archbishop of the Church of Uganda (COU), Dr Stephen Kaziimba Mugalu, has called upon Ugandans to have peace with themselves and in their family during this Christmas festival.

Speaking as the main celebrant at a Christmas Carols service at the Vision Group head offices in Kampala, Kaziimba called upon Christians to have peace with God, themselves and with others during this festival season because the saviour who was born on Christmas is a prince of peace.

At a time when Christians are awaiting the birth of Jesus Christ, Kaziimba reminded Ugandans that Christmas is a day for salvation; not for eating, so they should celebrate responsibly and love one another.

“People should have peace with themselves, if you have peace within you, the rest of the people around you will also have peace. You do not have to follow everything you will get pressure and go to heaven prematurely,” Kaziimba said.

He urged Ugandans to always live within their means and also accept their conditions and situations.

“If you attend a function and fail to eat, do not quarrel just accept there will always be a second time when you will eat. If a man or woman disappoints you, just thank God for letting him or her go. The best is always ahead. You do not need to visit witchdoctors, God is the best witchdoctor,” Kaziimba said.

Christmas Carols

In celebration of Christmas, this afternoon (Wednesday, November 06) different choirs mesmerised Vision Staff members and left many in a festive mood. The choirs were from St Charles Lwanga, Holy Uganda Martyrs Namugongo, All Saints, St Stephen Kireka, Elite Crescendo and Christian Discipleship Ministries.

The neatly dressed melodious choir produced some of the smoothest Christmas lyrics to the perfection of their revellers who were left yearning for more. Each of the choirs got the privilege of presenting two Christmas items.

The Vision Group Choir got the congregation craning their necks to get a clear view of the action on stage as they sang a heartwarming Joy to the World hymn. Different people kept on nodding their heads throughout the performance.

Speaking during the function, Gervase Ndyanabo, the Vision Group Deputy Managing Director who was pleased with the high standards of concert-artistry that the choirs exhibited, noted that the choirs brought back happy memories and set the mood for Christmas.

“What a beautiful day! The singing, the message and participation. During this service the message of Christmas to love one another has been delivered to millions of Ugandans who might think that Christmas is all about shopping, eating and travelling,” Ndyanabo said.

In his message, Don Wanyama, the Vision Group managing director, amused staff members when he said that he used to sing in his village church choir during Christmas times.

He committed that Vision Group is going to continue offering hope to Ugandans by sticking to the truth.

“For the first time, I felt like the time which was given to the choirs to present was not enough. As Vision Group, we understand the value of family, faith and morality and we commit to continue offering hope to Ugandans,” Wanyama said.
