A single image can tell a thousand stories, but according to Gen. Kale Kayihura, some stories about his trending photo in Kampala are simply untrue.

The retired general has clarified that he wasn’t walking alone or struggling financially, as some suggested.

Instead, he was merely taking a practical approach to Kampala’s ever-present traffic congestion.

Speaking on the phone to New Vision, he explained that a traffic jam near Kabira Country Club in Bukoto, forced him to cross the road on foot to reach a meeting on time.

“I moved with my security, and they were in the background—only that those who took the photo must have cut them out,” he said.

He also reminded the public that he is now a private citizen living an ordinary life: “I have rights. I can choose to walk if I want.”

Kayihura noted that he has lived a simple life for years at his farm in Kashagama, Lyantonde district, where he runs a business in goats, cows, and yoghurt production.

During last year’s Christmas holiday, he and his family met President Yoweri Museveni at Rwakitura for closed-door discussions, which sparked speculation about his possible return to public service.

In recent years, Kayihura has maintained close ties with First Son Gen Muhoozi Kainerugaba. Since the dismissal of charges against him by the Court Martial last year, he has made several public appearances at both government and social events.
