POLICE | ACCIDENT | DEATH
MASAKA - The Police, Sunday (July 3), confirmed that two people died after a fatal accident at Lweera along the Kampala-Masaka highway.
According to the Traffic Safety Directorate Spokesperson, ASP Faridah Nampiima, the accident involved a motor vehicle reg no UAV 310Y (Prado) driven by Tumusiime William who was travelling from Masaka heading to Kampala.
“The accident happened after a bodaboda rider who was moving in front of the Prado turned from left to right without indicating and in the process, the Prado driver tried to dodge the rider and ended up losing control of his vehicle, knocked the boda rider and killed him on spot,” Nampiima said in a statement.
She added that one Yesse Mubangizi Kamanyire, an occupant of the vehicle died moments after reaching Nkozi Hospital.
Nampiima stated that three other passengers in the Prado including; Ephraim Kasagwa, 72, sustained injuries and are currently admitted at Nkozi Hospital, adding that Philemon Mugabi sustained minor injuries.
“The cause of the accident has been attributed to the bodaboda rider identified as Samuel Lukyamuzi, 42, who carelessly turned off from the road,” Nampiima explained.
