While passing the judgment, the Magistrate noted that the act almost amounts to beheading a man and, given the pain and trauma being encountered by the victim, a 20-year jail term was appropriate.

“The victim you physically and psychologically hurt is haunted. He’s devastated and his marital future is doomed. I thus sentence you to 20 years in jail, so that others learn from you,” Kamuli Chief Magistrate, Paul Owino ruled on Friday.

Kevin Nabirye, 34, was on Friday convicted and sentenced to 20 years in jail after pleading guilty to cutting off her husband’s manhood.

The mother of four confessed that she cut off Mathias Bwamiki’s manhood, accusing him of sexual denials and thirst after getting another lover.

Earlier, the State Attorney, George Opio, guided it was paramount that the mother gets a tough sentence in that women planning to match the vice, get scared.

Standing firm in the dock, Nabirye attentively listened and wasn’t moved either by sobbing or being remorseful, save for telling the Judge that she misses her four children before the prison warders led her out to serve the sentence.

But the sentence didn’t go well with the public, who wished the convict would have been slapped with at least 45-60 years or life imprisonment.

Moses Kawubania, who faced a similar ordeal and was in court, said that 20 years isn’t enough, adding,” At least 60 years or life sentence would have served better.”

Annet Nabiryo, a housewife in Kiwolera Cell in Kamuli-Sbawaali ward in Kamuli Municipality, said, “You cut off the penis we crave for? She would have got at least 50 years.”

Nabirye becomes the fourth to face jail after committing a similar crime, the vice in which women have turned trendy, citing men’s high infidelity.

Fourth victim in space of five months

Bwamiki became the fourth man to encounter the ordeal, following the October incident when Moses Kawubania, the Director of Serena Junior Primary School –Nabirumba, lost the penis to his wife, Suzan Namuganza, 36, who doubled as the bursar of the same school.

She accused him of ignoring the wedding vows they made eight months earlier, by marrying a Primary teacher.

Last month, Joseph Waiswa, a resident of Namwendwa Town Council was rushed to Kamuli General Hospital fighting for his life after his wife also cut his genitals.

In Buyende District, Abdallah Ibinga, 40, the resident of Ddongi, also lost the penis to his wife, Madina Namuwaya, 35, after revealing that her co-wife was arriving the following day.
