Several areas of the city, including Kampala central business district, Munyonyo, Buziga, Ggaba Road, Nsambya, Kansanga, Muyenga, Kololo, Bugolobi started experiencing water shortage yesterday starting at 8:00pm.

NWSC in a statement yesterday informed the general public that there will be interruptions in water supply, "due to UMEME planned upgrade works and routine maintenance at the Ggaba Power station. The works are designed to improve power supply to the plant".

Some of the most affected areas, include Kampala CBD, Munyonyo, Buziga, Ggaba Road, Nsambya, Kansanga, Muyenga, Kololo, Bugolobi, Nakawa, Kyambogo, Jinja Road, Rubaga, Namirembe, Lubowa, Seguku, Mutundwe, Nansana, Matuga, Wakiso, Bulenga, Kyengera, Budo, Nabingo, Kawanda, Nabweru, parts of Gayaza, Kanyanya, Mulago, Makerere, Kamwokya, Mawanda Road, Makindye, Najjanankumbi and the surrounding areas.

NWSC advised customers to store enough water and use it sparingly, as it takes time for the system to stabilise after a total plant shutdown.
