A startling incident unfolded at the O’Kla Hotel on Balintuma Road in Old Kampala, as a blast rocked the premises, leaving three individuals nursing injuries from the explosion.
According to Luke Owoyesigyire, the deputy spokesperson for Kampala Metropolitan area, the explosion originated from a sauna within the hotel.
Owoyesigyire said initial reports indicated a suspected criminal attack, prompting Police intervention.
The blast, attributed to a water cylinder attached to the sauna, has prompted ongoing investigations by the Police fire brigade, rescue services, and hotel management.
Owoyesigyire provided these details during a briefing at the Police headquarters in Naguru, Nakawa division, Kampala, on Monday, April 15, 2024.
He said law enforcement officials have made an arrest in connection with a disturbing incident at a local hotel.
The suspect, identified as Jim Mawejje, was apprehended following an investigation into the case, according to Owoyesigyire.
The victims involved in the incident were only identified by their first names: Eron, Godwin and Baluku.
