Kampala Catholic Archdiocese opens new Parish

The new Parish is the 73rd in the archdiocese.

KAMPALA - Kampala Catholic Archdiocese has Sunday, December 4, 2022, opened St Ponsiano Ngondwe, Catholic Parish, Salaama-Kyamula.

The new parish carved from Uganda Martyrs Minor Shrine, Munyonyo, was opened by Archbishop of Kampala Paul Ssemogerere during a function attended by hundreds of Christians.

Ssemogerere said the late Archbishop Dr Cyprian Kizito Lwanga accepted the Christians' proposal of fully creating Kyamula parish carved from Munyonyo, and trusted MISSIONARIES of Order of Franciscan Friars Minor to prepare it.

“I am here to fulfil what late Archbishop Lwanga started. It is now on record because God has granted you the gift of the parish you have always desired,” Ssemogerere said.

"Getting a Parish brings another step closer to enlivening and enriching in our Archdiocese," he said.

"I am grateful to all those who are making every effort to co-operate with the sub-0arish, whether in mergers, linkages or partnerships as we move forward together to do the work of evangelisation in the name of Jesus Christ," he added.

Salaama-Kyamula community started in 1963, before becoming a sub-parish in 1973 until today.
