KAGADI - A domestic quarrel involving a couple in Uganda's western district of Kagadi took a deadly turn last Sunday (April 6).
The Police are now investigating the incident which resulted in the death of 57-year-old teacher Charles Lwanga in a fight that happened in the village of Kyeicunu in Kyenzige sub-county.
Julius Allan Hakiza, the Albertine region Police spokesperson, said the neighbours of the couple witnessed the tragic altercation play out.
Lwanga and Rosemary Tuhaise — who Police described as his concubine — faced off in a fight.
Basing on eyewitness reports, Hakiza said the altercation escalated "and she [Tuhaise] allegedly hit him with a hand hoe handle, rendering him unconscious".
The regional Police spokesperson said neighbours "witnessed the incident and informed the area LC1 chairperson" and that "by 7pm, Charles had already passed away".
Kagadi Police are now investigating a case of murder by assault, with Tuhaise as the suspect.
Hakiza said the case was recorded on Monday (April 7) and that the crime scene was examined and documented by Kagadi Police.
He added that Tuhaise fled the area and that Police are hunting for her.
