Kabaka Ronald Muwenda Mutebi II’s 70th birthday celebration programme is out with a series of development projects set to be launched during its course.
Kabaka’s birthday is one of the major events in the Kingdom. The 70th birthday will be celebrated under the Theme: “Let’s be healthy by engaging in mass immunization and treatment of all diseases."
The theme seeks to encourage people to always go for medical checkups and get proper treatment for all diseases.
Kabaka Mutebi II was born in Kampala on April 13, 1955, to Ssekabaka Edward Muteesa II and Lady Sarah Nalule Kisosonkol.
Announcing the programme on March 3, 2025, at Bulange-Mmengo, according to The Second Deputy Prime Minister and Finance Minister of Buganda, Robert Waggwa Nsibirwa, the kingdom activities begin on April 4, 2025, with the commissioning of a building at St Peter’s Secondary School, Bombo-Kalule in Nyimbwa sub-county, Luweero. The building was named after Kabaka Mutebi II.
On April 5, 2025, the Kingdom has organized health camps dubbed Ebyoto at all 18 county headquarters and all 175 sub-counties.
“This is intended to teach and educate Kabaka’s subjects about HIV/AIDS, malaria, sickle cell anemia, and mental health, among other diseases,” said Waggwa the chairperson of this year’s birthday celebrations told the media on Tuesday, March 4.
Waggwa called out the subjects to attend in huge numbers these fireplace initiatives as there will be lectures about environment protection, all activities starting at 10:00am.
The Kabaka Birthday Run will be held on April 6, 2025. Kabaka Mutebi II is expected to flag-off the runners at Mengo Palace where the main event is going to be staged. Around 120,000 participants are expected to run.
Kabaka Birthday Run is entering its 12th edition and is supported by Bukedde & New Vision, newspapers of Vision Group.
Other sponsors of the Run include I & M bank, UNAIDS, Uganda Aids Commission, Majestic Brands Ltd, Nivana, BBS TV, CBS.
