The Uganda Peoples' Defence Forces (UPDF), in its joint operation with the Armed Forces of the Democratic Republic of Congo (FARDC), has put out of action an Allied Democratic Forces (ADF) commander and the outfit's medic known as Dr Musa.

Reports indicate that Musa was killed in action by a joint mobile squad force under the 83 battalion of the UPDF at Mugulumugulu near Tokomeka, 30km Northwest of Kainama.

'Dr' Musa, who was of Rwandan origin, was at the time of his death operating closely with another notorious ADF commander called Muhammad Luminsa.

According to Operation Shujaa/Mountain Division spokesperson Maj. Bilal Katamba, the joint forces recovered one sub-machine gun (SMG) and one radio (walkie-talkie).

The April 9, 2024, development follows the killing of Baghdad another ADF commander a few days ago.

“The third Mountain Battalion mobile squad together with Congolese troops, killed 'Baghdad' in the areas of Ambusire, Northwest of Tingwe, 16.5 km from Elengeti Town in Ituri province," Katamba said of the incident that happened on April 4, 2024.

The tactical efforts to locate, fix and neutralise other group members still at large by the joint troops continue, according to the army.

The ADF has intensified the implanting of improvised explosive devices (IEDs). However, the joint forces' technical explosive ordnance disposal (EOD) teams are handling the IED threats.

The joint forces continue to aggressively pursue the ADF remnants in their scattered hideouts in all four sectors of the operation.
