JINJA - Kiira Regional Police has rearrested two hardcore criminals in connection with the murder of Rogers Kifubangabo, a radio journalist.

The duo has been identified as Chris Kiguli, 26, commonly known as ‘Dindo Di’, and Samuel Muwanguzi, 25, also known as ‘Sam Foster’.

On August 28, a joint security team led by Jinja Central Police Station commander David Kamugira rearrested the duo moments after their release from Kirinya prisons.

They remain detained at Nalufenya police station.

Kifubangabo, son of Busoga Kingdom’s Information Officer, Owek. Michael Kifubangabo was killed in June 2023 in Bugembe - Budhumbuli Karina zone in Jinja city.

The deceased, a former journalist with one of the local radio stations, was stabbed to death a few metres from his residence.

Whereas he worked as the Magogo parish chief in Magogo sub-county in Kamuli district, he was staying in Budhumbuli, one of the crime-ridden areas in Jinja city northern division.

His body was discovered in a pool of blood with cuts around the neck, pointing to a clear signal that some criminals had attacked him.

James Mubi, the Kiira region spokesperson, while speaking to Newvision online on Friday, said the duo was released a few days ago from Kirinya Prison after serving time for aggravated robbery and kidnapping with a court order to pay shs10m each in compensation to their victims.

He said police have since gathered incriminating evidence implicating the duo in the alleged murder.

Mubi said initially the duo was arrested in February 2024 with the support from the Director of Crime Intelligence.
