Muwanika said youth are always used by politicians to engage in violence, especially as the country is heading into elections, and later abandoned them to rot in jails without getting any support.

IGANGA - Iganga district khadi Sheikh Sinani Muwanika has cautioned the youth against being used by politicians to engage in election-related violence.

Muwanika says those involved risk being arrested and prosecuted before courts of law.

He made the remarks while addressing thousands of Muslim faithful during Idd Aduha prayers at Iganga Municipal Primary School playgrounds today, June 6, 2025.

Muwanika said youth are always used by politicians to engage in violence, especially as the country is heading into elections, and later abandoned them to rot in jails without getting any support.

“These people politicians only want you when you are in not in problems and will forget about you in times of trouble,” he said.

Muwanika urged Muslims to have passion for their religion by always wearing Muslim caps or Kanzus to attract non-Muslims and join the religion.

He appealed to the Muslim faithful to desist from bad habits like fornication, drunkness and instead always pray five times a day besides sharing their wealth with the needy to enable them live comfortably.

Iganga Muslim Council chairperson Sheikh Waguma Wakinyakali appealed to Muslims to embrace government programmes like the Parish Development Model to ensure they uplift their household incomes.

Wakinyakali said Iganga Muslim council is in preparation to celebrate 40 years of its existence by holding a health camp and later main celebrations as part of a plot to show its challenges and achievements.
