Vision Group’s Harvest Money Expo is marking its 10th year of giving value to farmers and farming enthusiasts. Happening now at Kololo Ceremonial Grounds and running throughout the weekend, the expo is a hub of best farming practice, innovation and expert advice.

The event has been sponsored by the Kingdom of Netherlands, ENGSOL, Tunga Nutrition, aBi, Pearl Bank, and Uganda Development Corporation. Other sponsors are Heifer International, Roke Telecom, the Ministry of Agriculture, Animal Husbandry and Fisheries and Uganda Revenue Authority.

Exhibitors have been thronging the expo for the last 10 years, and they say it is a worthwhile venture. Paulina Nabbosa of GEOJPA Herbal Products, for example, has been an exhibitor for the last seven years because she says the expo is quite lucrative. “We make money at the expo,” Nabbosa said.

She is a dealer in herbal products and seeds. “I sell a variety of seeds such as: sweet yellow maize, Tanzania yellow beans, cotton beans, black soya, hibiscus seeds and okra seeds."

On the medicinal part, Nabbosa said she has a plant that helps diabetics keep their blood sugar under control. “I also have an insulin plant for diabetics. You can eat two leaves, one in the morning and in the afternoon. The leaf reduces high blood sugar levels,” Nabbosa said.

She also had a unique plant called lipstick tree seeds, which she said are good for treating infection, prostate, urinary tract infection and candida. And just like the expos before, Nabbosa said, “I hope to earn money and expert advice from fellow exhibitors.”

At only sh10,000 as the entrance fee, visitors are encouraged to come to the expo to learn and network with different players in different agricultural spaces.
