KAMPALA - Jordan Ssemugga, who has just completed his Primary Seven at Maya Hillside Primary School in Wakiso district, won sh500,000 in the art category at the Toto Christmas Festival that took place at Millennium Park Lugogo.
Maureen Nakatudde caught up with him and he shared his recent victory.
Are you excited about the victory?
Yes, I am so excited. I cannot believe it. I want to thank Vision Group for organising the Toto Christmas Festival, because of it I have been able to win.
Did you expect to win?
No, I was totally thrown off balance
Why?
When I was drawing, the picture didn’t seem good. However, I prayed to God and asked Him to give me victory. I am very grateful that He gave it to me.
What picture did you draw?
I drew Dora the cartoon
How did you get the talent for drawing?
At school, I had a friend called Silva Ssegujja, who had just gone to Primary Seven. He is a very good artist. He and I used to have drawing competitions. I think that helped me to hone my skills, getting me to take the first position today.
What are you going to do with the money?
I do not know. But I hope to plan for it once I reach home
What are your hobbies?
In my free time, I like drawing pictures, playing football and helping my parents with any work that needs to be done.
Can you share your favourite dish?
I can enjoy rice and meat any time.
