A village savings association in Amuria district is inspiring its members to build houses by buying iron sheets for them.

Amunokinos Women’s Development Savings Group in Apeduru sub-county buys 18 iron sheets for one of 32 members every month.

This month, Vicky Ilobu is the beneficiary, and she received her iron sheets on Wednesday at her home in Aminit village, Aridai parish in Kapelebyong district.

The group also pools in the region of shillings 500,000 every month through forced savings and gifts to facilitate the home construction process for each member.

According to the savings group's vice-chairperson, Esther Aeso, up to 11 members have so far benefitted since the group opened on February 1, 2023.

Ilobu, a nurse by profession, lauded the group saying it has eased her dream of building a house for her parents.

Andrew Eedu, another member, said they formed the group purposely to help the members construct a house by providing iron sheets and other necessary support.
