KAMPALA - The Chief of Defence Forces, General Muhoozi Kainerugaba, earlier this week hosted a dinner reception welcoming allied military leaders and championing enhanced Pan-African cooperation.

The dinner was held in honour of the visiting Chief of General Staff of the Central African Armed Forces (FACA), Major General Zépherin Mamadou.

The events described as a demonstration of regional military fellowship took place on Thursday at Lake Victoria Serena Resort in Kigo, near Kampala.

The guests included a delegation from Kenya led by Lt. Gen David Kepkemboi Ketter, Commander of the Kenya Army, and a Tanzanian delegation led by Maj Gen Marco Elisha Gaguti, Chief of Personnel for the Tanzania People’s Defence Force.

Also in attendance were senior UPDF officers and heads of Ugandan security agencies, including Inspector General of Police Abbas Byakagaba.

A release from his office states that during dinner, Gen. Kainerugaba and his guests reiterated the fundamental importance of the pan-African spirit and deeper military collaboration for continental security.

Earlier in the week, while meeting CDF Kainerugaba in Entebbe, Major General Mamadou highlighted the crucial role of UPDF training and support under the ongoing bilateral military cooperation agreement, which has helped FACA rebuild its operational capacity.

On Friday, the visiting military leaders were among hundreds in Kabale for UPDF’s 45th Tarehe Sita celebrations.

According to the release, the positive response to the CDF's invitation further solidifies the defence partnerships underscored during the visit.
