Hospital workers arrested for stealing patients’ food

KIRYANDOGO - The Police in Kiryandongo District are holding three people for allegedly stealing food meant for supporting patients at Kiryandongo Hospital.

Jonathan Akweteireho, the Kiryandongo Deputy Resident District Commissioner, identified the suspects as hospital cleaners Sam Kizito and John Rukalema, as well as hospital security guard Nicodemus Ssenyonjo. 

Akweteireho says the suspects were found in possession of a therapeutic food called Mana, which is given to children suffering from severe malnutrition.

The security guard was arrested after he allegedly aided another suspect, one Nalongo Poola, to escape.

Hundreds of food sachets have been recovered from the suspects.
