Hoima City Carnival unveiled

The carnival will be held concurrently with World Tourism Day which is also going to have mega activities across Bunyoro including a two-day free tour in Murchison Falls National Park.

HOIMA - The Hoima City Authority together with its partners including Vision Group, and MTN Uganda, among others have launched the first City Carnival festival that is to be held from 26 September to 1st October in Hoima with lots of activities.

In his statement at the launch, Hoima City mayor Brian Kaboyo noted that they are going to have lots of activities including Kibiro challenge, a health camp, a Mayor tour ride cycling, a City mayor's conference, and a Business Symposium, among others.

He added that the carnival is for every person in the Hoima and Bunyoro region because it is an opportunity to do business.

The Hoima East division resident City Commissioner, Donanto Kasigazi, promised that security will be very tight for nice jubilations urging Ugandans to behave well during the festival.

The carnival will be held concurrently with World Tourism Day which is also going to have mega activities across Bunyoro including a two-day free tour in Murchison Falls National Park.

Kaboyo says that the carnival is going to be an annual event in August to promote Hoima City and business.

He revealed that the World Tourism Day celebrations will be an opportunity to boost the tourism sites in Bunyoro.

As carnival preparations gained momentum, MTN Uganda on Tuesday announced a boost of sh20 million to support the festival, the first of its kind in the Bunyoro region.

Andrew Tusubira regional commercial head MTN Uganda said the carnival was initiated following an engagement between Hoima city Mayor and MTN in June this year.

He noted that as MTN they decided to be part of and fund the carnival with sh20 million because the event is going to give the local people a chance to offer services and sell of variety of commoditize and boost the economy.
