The Head of the public service, Lucy Nakyobe, has asked auditors to embrace innovation and technology for audit efficiency.

She also urged the delegates to embrace innovation and technology for audit efficiency.

Nakyobe was speaking at the 20th Governing Board meeting and 2024 Strategic Review for Auditor Generals From African English-Speaking Countries at Speke Resort Munyonyo on Tuesday, May 7, 2024.

She commended the supreme audit institutions for the work they are doing in budgetary control and checking public officers despite several challenges like capacity shortfalls, weak legal frameworks, and technology shortfalls.

The Office of the Auditor General of Uganda is hosting the AFROSAI-E, a 26 English-speaking member State sub-group of the African branch of the international organization of Supreme Audit Institutions.

Musasizi lauded the heads of supreme audit institutions and other stakeholders in the audit community for a meeting in Uganda to discuss matters that will propel the efficiency of their work.

He said the collaborative approach and strategic focus of their meeting will guide the delegates to explore solutions to today’s challenges and position their institutions to take on the challenges of tomorrow.

Nancy Gathungu, the chair of the governing board and also the Auditor General of Kenya, said the review was a testament to their commitment to excellence in public service accountability and transparency.

The Office of Auditor Generals Uganda won the best performance audit prize for 2023.
