“We are ready to teach people, and we also hope to establish ourselves in Uganda. The expo will give us the opportunity to be visible to many,” said Nkoge.

The Harvest Money Expo has begun on a high note with visitors thronging onto the Kololo Ceremonial Grounds. It will run throughout the weekend.

This year’s expo is special as it marks the 10th year since it began. Vision Group has teamed with sponsors to ensure its success. The sponsors include: the Kingdom of the Netherlands, ENGSOL, Tunga Nutrition, aBi, Pearl Bank, and Uganda Development Corporation. Others are Heifer International, Roke Telecom, the agriculture ministry and Uganda Revenue Authority.

Under the theme, Farming as a Business, visitors are urged to come to the expo to learn how to grow a business in farming.

A word with Timothy Nkonge of Kibinge Farmers Association revealed that exhibitors have a lot of trust and expectations in the expo. Nkonge said their association deals in seedlings, and they hope to teach people the best practice methods, and thereafter, sell seedlings to them. They sell a variety of seedlings, such as coffee, matooke, plantains, and bananas, among others.

“We are ready to teach people, and we also hope to establish ourselves in Uganda. The expo will give us the opportunity to be visible to many,” said Nkoge.

Joshua Kato, the Harvest Money editor, shared his enthusiasm for the 10th expo, saying: “It has kicked off well. There are many people here on a Friday morning.”

Another excited exhibitor is Unik World, who had several visitors at the stall during their demonstration. They are dealers in water guns that spray crops in the garden.

As Moses Wateya of Unik World demonstrated, visitors asked questions concerning the range of the water spray and its pressure. Wateya explained that the spray gun can spray water to crops of all heights; short, medium and tall.

Wetaya adjusted the spray gun to demonstrate how far the spray can go, even as high as reaching a mango tree or avocado.

At a fee of sh10,000 only, the expo is definitely the place to be this weekend. It is fun, engaging and bursting with a wealth of information from exhibitors.
