The health ministry is looking for potential investors to set up a super-specialized trauma hospital that is expected to handle accident-related cases in the oil-rich region of Bunyoro.
Ministry spokesperson Emmanuel Ainebyoona made the revelation on Tuesday during a guided tour of the Kingfisher Oil Development Field and Tilenga project
According to Ainebyoona, they are looking at setting up a super-specialized trauma hospital facility in the Kabaale Industrial Area.
He said an assessment was recently done by the ministry's technical team around the Tilenga project, Kingfisher Oil Development Field and along the East African Crude Oil Pipeline looking at how best they will equip facilities in the area.

"We are looking at handling accident-related incidents that will arise as a result of oil production and we are also going to improve services at Hoima Regional Referral Hospital," Ainebyona said.
He has commended TotalEnergies for equipping Avogera Health Centre IV in Buliisa district which is now handling an influx of people in the area due to oil activities.
Ainebyoona is, however, not sure if Kikuube and Buliisa districts that are hosting oil wells will have general hospitals.
Currently, Bunyoro has only one regional hospital: Hoima, three general hospitals of Kagadi, Masindi and Kiryandongo
