Govt loses sh208b in unbilled water

“A 2% reduction in non-revenue water sector-wide would recover sh6.5b. That’s not a leak; it is a lost investment. Some of our umbrella authorities run at over 100% operating ratios. That is not a business model; that is a budgetary bypass,” the permanent secretary of the water ministry, Dr Alfred Okot Okidi, said.

The managing director of National Water and Sewerage Corporation, Eng. Silver Mugisha said non-revenue water is a technical issue resulting from physical leakages.
