KAMPALA - The health ministry has warned the public against a fraudster currently using the director general health services, Dr Henry Mwebesa’s, name to con them of their money. 

The fraudster, according to the ministry, is using the telephone number 0414673808 and disguising himself as Dr Henry Mwebesa. 

“Attention has been drawn by an act of an unscrupulous individual who is impersonating and extorting money from members of the general public while masquerading as the director general health services Dr Henry Mwebesa,” said Dr Charles Olaro, the director curative services at the health ministry.  

“He has been promising jobs at a fee to members of the public, asking for HIV focal persons to attend a fully funded conference in Geneva for five days among other deceitful information,” he added. 

Olaro said some unsuspecting members of the public have unfortunately been victims of this malicious act and urged them to report these individuals to the nearest police station. 

“The ministry of health would like to inform the general public that it does not require any form of payment during application for jobs or participating in international conferences. All such communication is published through the ministry of health website or health services commission and print media. Please be cautious and alert of such fraudsters,” Olaro stated.
