Four Ugandans for Mara Squash League in Nairobi

The Ugandans; Michael Kawooya, Paul Kadoma, Ivan Wasswa, and Samuel Kyagulanyi are part of 48 players spread out in eight teams of six players each that are competing in the lucrative championship where individual players have a chance to win up to sh4.9m.

Four Ugandan squash players are in Nairobi to compete in the inaugural edition of the Mara Squash League at the Braeburn International School, April 19-21.

The Ugandans; Michael Kawooya, Paul Kadoma, Ivan Wasswa, and Samuel Kyagulanyi are part of 48 players spread out in eight teams of six players each that are competing in the lucrative championship where individual players have a chance to win up to sh4.9m.

The winning team will walk away with sh8.4m while the first and second runners-up will pocket sh4.2m and sh2.1m each respectively. The other incentives for individual players will have seed one of the tournament pocketing sh282,000, seed two sh169,000, seed three sh113,000, seed four sh56,000, and seed five sh28,000 for every match won during the games.

Playing for the Royal Knicks Uganda’s Ivan Wasswa will take on his compatriot Apex Alpah Apes’ Michael Kawooya in one of the opening matches of the league in Pool B as Court Conquerers’ Samuel Kyagulanyi entertains Braeburn Stars’ Sean Khan.

Braeburn Stars also have Uganda Paul Kadoma on their roaster and he will face off with Court Conquerers William Cembalest in another match out of the 24 on card on Friday.

William Cembalest will also face Kawooya on Saturday while Wasswa has a date with Kadoma. Kyagulanyi will play Apex Alpah Apes’ Yadav Rajan Jani before Kasirye locks horns with Kawooya in one of the last games of the Saturday action.

The eight teams in the competition are; Kenya Orient Mavericks, Court Conqurers, Royal Knicks, Lightning Strokes, and Fay Supernicks, Apex Alpah Apes, Tuskers on the T, and Braeburn Stars.
