SOROTI - The four Egyptian nationals arrested by the Police last week in connection with the murder of their colleague have on Wednesday, March 6, been charged with murder and remanded to Soroti government prison.

The four were arrested by the Police a week ago over the disappearance of Ahmed Zinhom Ibrahim, 32, a resident of Campswahili Cell A 1, Campswahili ward in Soroti City before his body was recovered in Awoja swamp in Soroti District.

The four who appeared before the acting Soroti chief magistrate presided over by Hilda Wanaga Bakanasa who charged them with murder and remanded them until March 20, are Mohamed Nabil, Fahim Abdlhahim Ababbas, Mohamed Mahmoud, and Mohamood Ahmed.

“This court has no jurisdiction to try this matter except for me to read for you the charges for you to understand,” Wanaga said.

State attorney Paul Okello informed the court that the investigations were still ongoing.

The body of Zinhom, a businessman dealing with kitchenware, was recovered on March 2, 2024. It was transported to Kampala where a postmortem was to be conducted.
