The Uganda People’s Defense Forces (UPDF) bigwigs who joined the forces in the early days of the then National Resistance Army (NRA)  are among the VIPs' who assembled at the district headquarters in Busesa events commemorating the major milestone.

TAREHE SITA

BUGWERI - President Yoweri Museveni, who is also the commander of the Armed Forces will on Tuesday preside over the 43rd Tarehe Sita Anniversary in Busesa, Bugweri district under the theme: "Celebrating the Peoples’ Struggle for Unity, Security, and Peace for Socio-Economic Transformation."

The Uganda People’s Defense Forces (UPDF) bigwigs who joined the forces in the early days of the then National Resistance Army (NRA)  are among the VIPs' who assembled at the district headquarters in Busesa events commemorating the major milestone.

Tarehe sita usually celebrated on February 6th commemorates the day in 1981, when the National Resistance Army led by Yoweri Museveni, launched an armed rebellion against the government of Milton Obote.

They include Gen Ivan Koreta, former Inspector General of Police Gen  Kale Kayihura, Gen. Jim Muhwezi, the security minister plus Gen Katumba Wamala, the minister of works and transport.

The Chief Of Defense Forces, Gen Wilson Mbadi is leading the current UPDF command. 

Among those present are Senior Police officers.

Several ministers and legislators are also among the hundreds at the event.
A sizable representation of the armies from neighboring countries including Ethiopia, Kenya, DRC, Rwanda, and more was in attendance.

Other guests started arriving as early as 8:00am including the Central Busoga Diocesan Bishop Patrick Wakula who was seen chatting with the Mufti of Uganda Sheikh Ramathan Mubajje.
