KAMPALA - Five men, including two boda-boda operators, have been charged before the General Court Martial (GCM) at Makindye in Kampala with murder, aggravated robbery and attempted murder following the killing of a police officer in Mukono district.
The accused are;
▪️Labison Amutuhire, a boda doda operator of Namataba Ward in Bweyogerere in Wakiso, is also known as Robinson alias Mulefu
▪️Arafat Kasango, a boda-boda operator from Kito ‘A’ village, Kirinya Ward in Wakiso
▪️Alfonsi Daniel, a bricklayer from Kapeke village, Kasenge Parish, Nama Sub- County in Mukono district
▪️Daniel Okello Oyara, 25, a casual labourer from Kireku Zone, Bweyogerere in Wakiso
▪️Joseph Innocent Luyirika, a casual labourer from Tula Road in Kawempe Division, Kampala
The five, who denied the charges, appeared before a panel of three, chaired by Col Frederick Kangwamu, assisted by Col Nasser Drago Igambi and Maj Abubaker Nyombi.
Capt Gift Mubehamwe, from prosecution, said that investigations were still ongoing, and requested court for an adjournment to April 1, 2026. He also asked court to remand the accused to Kitalya Government Prison.
The defence team, led by Capt Daniel Kagombe, informed court that they intend to invoke Article 23(6)(a) of the Constitution to apply for bail in the near future.
