Crime detectives in Mukono district have arrested five suspects in connection with the murder of a school teacher.

Police identified the deceased as 30-year-old Oloya Ivan, a teacher at Seeta High School, Mbalala.

Kampala Metropolitan Police Spokesperson Patrick Onyango said that the incident occurred on Saturday, March 22, 2025, at around 1:30 am in Bajjo Cell, Nyenje Ward, Goma Division.

The arrested suspects include Paul Kasumba, 21, and Simon Mabale, 23, both casual workers; Tom Kibuuka, 38, a motor vehicle mechanic; Simon Lukodda, 18, also a casual worker; and Dani Charles Kandoole, 16, another casual worker. All of them are residents of Kiguunga.

According to reports, Oloya was attacked and killed as he returned to his home in Bajjo after work.

The incident occurred near the gate of Code High School, where his wife, Aber Mercy, works as a teacher.

“The Police introduced sniffer dogs to the scene, leading to the arrest of the suspects. The body has been taken to Mulago for a postmortem examination, and investigations are ongoing,” Onyango said.

An employee of Code High School narrated that Oloya’s body was found along the road about 50 meters from their gate.

Aish Namita, a resident, stated that the deceased was struck on the forehead by the assailant, who then grabbed his laptop and fled. She described the location as a dangerous area where several people have been mugged.

Councillor William Kabali urged security forces to improve security in their area.
