First Lady and Minister of Education and Sports, Mrs Janet Kataaha Museveni, has been honoured with the International Woman Icon Award 2025.
Mrs Museveni was crowned for advancing women's empowerment and dedication to education, family welfare and national development, having touched countless lives.
The award was presented by the Centre for Women Studies at Binary University, Malaysia. The ceremony was held at State House Entebbe, on November 22, 2025.

"The award is a collective effort. It is equally yours as it is mine," Mrs Museveni said.
She said the prestigious award will inspire the young population to lay their own brick on the building called Uganda.
Mrs Museveni added that her focus is on ensuring access to education, preferably a holistic education for every child of school-going age.
"If a child leaves our schools more disciplined, more skilled, ethical, and more hopeful, then I will have done my duty to Uganda," she said.
Present at the ceremony were different guests, including John Muyingo (State Minister for Higher Education), Kasule Lumumba (Minister for General Duties), Dr Kedrace Turyagyenda (education ministry permanent secretary), Allen Kagina (chairperson Technical and Vocational Education and Training Council Uganda) and Joshua Lwere, a senior pastor of Grace Assembly Church.
