FDC mourns Wafula Oguttu’s wife, burial programme out

The Forum for Democratic Change (FDC) party has mourned the death of Alice, the wife of former Leader of Opposition Wafula Oguttu.

FDC has described the death as a onerous time.

“We extend our deepest condolences to Rt. Hon. Wafula Oguttu and his entire family during this onerous time. Our thoughts and prayers are with the family of Uncle Wafula, as they mourn the loss of Mrs Alice Oguttu,” FDC tweeted on Sunday.

Oguttu’s wife was reported dead on Sunday morning by family members. Mrs. Oguttu 61, died after she reportedly succumbed to cancer complications, a disease she had battled for several years, according to family sources. Last year, she was ferried to India where she was expertly treated for the cancer for nearly six months.

According to FDC, funeral arrangements for the late Alice Nabugembe oguttu are as below:

  1. Vigil at Home: Wednesday, June 28th, 2023 in Ntinda, at 5:30pm.
  2. Requiem service at St. Luke Church of Uganda in Ntinda on Thursday, June 29, 2023 at 10:00am
  3. Travel to Bugiri District on Thursday at 2:00pm.
  4. Burial Ceremony: Saturday, July 1, 2023, in Sanika Village, Nsono Parish, Nankoma sub-county in Bugiri District, starting at 10:00am.

Wafula Oguttu is known for his years in the media industry.

In 2011, he was elected to represent Bukooli Central, in Bugiri district in the ninth parliament on the endorsement of the opposition outfit FDC.

The veteran scribe would go on to become the Leader of the Opposition in Parliament, a position he held until he was defeated in his constituency in 2016.
