Australian evangelist Nick Vujicic has condemned church divisions and corruption in governments during his 'Champions Arise' crusade at Hockey Grounds, Lugogo in Kampala on March 20, 2026.

Vujicic, who was born without arms or legs, emphasised the need for the church to return to its core values and preach the true gospel, warning that pastors spreading false messages are sending their followers to hell.

“I condemn false pastors who are preaching the gospel which divides people in society. I pray to God to clean the church in Jesus’ name, and I lift my voice hard for your mercy and glory to prevail,” Vujicic said.

Pastors preaching the wrong gospel are causing unnecessary divisions among God’s people, he emphasised.

“The church must be a force for good, promoting unity, justice, and equality,” he said.

He warned against the dangers of the prosperity gospel, which he believes has “disabled two continents, Africa and Latin America”, where people have turned to God for their needs without putting work at the centre of God’s command.

Vujicic prayed for God's intervention to cleanse the church of evil and corruption, particularly in governments where the majority of the population suffers at the hands of the elite rich, who exploit the poor.

“I pray for economic freedom for the average Ugandan. I urge the governments to utilise mineral wealth for the benefit of the population, not just the rich and the influential class in society,” he added.

The evangelist challenged governments to prioritise the welfare of their citizens and called for small businesses to thrive.

Media challenged on sensitive reporting

He challenged the media to be more sensitive and responsible in their reporting, particularly when covering issues related to faith and society.

“The media need to sensitise the masses through balanced and fair reporting, which embraces objectivity.”

Vujicic stressed the need for journalists to prioritize fact-based reporting, avoiding sensationalism and bias.

The evangelist's call to action highlights the critical role media plays in promoting transparency and accountability, particularly in addressing issues like corruption, underdevelopment and social injustice.

Vujicic preached against prostitution among young people and prayed for an empowered youth population to drive social and economic transformation in Africa.

The 'Champions Arise' crusade, which is part of Vujicic's Africa tour, aims to inspire believers to stand up, step out, and live as champions in Christ. The event has drawn large crowds, with many attendees seeking spiritual guidance and empowerment.
