Eleven guards were on Thursday arraigned before the Kampala Capital City Authority Chief Magistrates Court on Charges of Forcible Entry on Property.

All male, the accused are guards of Magnum Security who were arrested by the State House Anti-Corruption Unit (SHACU) working together with the Criminal Investigation Directorate (CID)

The state claims that the suspects took possession of the property of the late Eng. Eliba Johnson in a violent matter, yet there was a temporary injunction on the property.

They were remanded until Wednesday, March 20, 2024.

On Tuesday, SHACU, working with a team from CID, arrested the 11 personnel of Magnum Security, a private security company which had been illegally deployed to evict and consequently guard a contested property on Plot 106, Old Kira Road, Ntinda in Kampala city suburbs.

This follows the demolition of their house on December 26 2022, by one Yusuf Semakula, who did not have a court order. Despite this injunction, Semakula on March 1, 2024, caused a second eviction of the family from the premises and deployed Magnum Security, prompting SHACU to arrest the guards.

SHACU investigated this incident and the status quo (occupation of the property by the Eliba family) was to be maintained pending the conclusion of court cases as to the ownership of the property at the Court of Appeal which issued an interim injunction to that effect on December 23, 2023.
