Ekinihiiro returns as Radio West turns 26

Radio West has kicked off a week of activities ahead of its 26th anniversary celebrations, scheduled for Saturday, July 26 2025.

The celebrations began with market activations that drew thousands of supporters in Kitwe, Ntungamo district, and Kabwohe in Sheema district, where attendees pledged to turn up in large numbers for the main event.

Today, Wednesday, similar activities will be held in Rubare, Ntungamo district, followed by another activation on Thursday in Bwizibwera Town Council, Mbarara district. The build-up will culminate in a massive road carnival in Mbarara city this Friday, accompanied by a series of night events across the city.

Speaking to New Vision, Dickson Nandinda, the station manager at Radio West, promised a unique celebration this year. He revealed that over 10 cows have already been set aside to be slaughtered for fans. He also noted that some of the country’s top artistes have been lined up to provide entertainment.

Radio West, one of Vision Group’s FM stations, is marking 26 years on air since its launch on April 10 1999. The anniversary event has become the region’s flagship celebration, attracting tens of thousands of supporters annually.

Nandinda encouraged the public to attend in large numbers, promising an exciting day with many prizes to be won. He expressed gratitude to fans who had donated cows and other forms of support to help make the day colourful.

He also thanked the event sponsors: MTN, WENDI, Pepsi, Golden Choice Party, Nyakayojo SACCO, Katatumba Academy, Herbalife Uganda, Solar Today, Hays Recruitment, and TV West.
