Eddie Ssebufu commonly known as Eddie Mutwe and head of security of National Unity Platform (NUP) president Robert Kyagulanyi has been committed to the High Court on charges related to aggravated robbery.

The Grade 1 Magistrate, Abraham Kaiza, on May 20, relocated Ssebufu from Masaka Central Prison to Luzira Prison in Kampala where he will have access to specialised medical treatment as he earlier requested.

Ssebufu's family and NUP supporters jammed the courtroom and later interacted with him, unlike in the past court appearances.

Ssebufu joins other NUP security personnel remanded in Masaka Central Prison on related charges. These include Achilleo Kivumbi, Gaddafi Mugumya and Grace Wakabi.

The court heard that the prosecution shall rely on Magret Kayondo (Simba FM), Zainab Namusazi (NBS), John Mukalazi, Fred Lubega and Haruna Ssekitto's testimonies who are the complainants.

The complainants lost money and mobile phones during the scuffle at Manja village, Kiwangala sub-county in Lwengo during the burial of Pascal Kivumbi last year.

The Counsel team for Ssebufu led by Samuel Muyizzi said they will continue to pursue bail for their client.
