On Sunday, Christians around Uganda are expected to make their way in droves to their respective places of worship to celebrate Easter Sunday in remembrance of Jesus' resurrection from the dead.
Below are the Easter prayer schedules for the different churches:
Lubaga Cathedral
Easter Mass will be conducted at 6:30am, 7:30am, 8:30am, 10:00am and 5:00pm. At 10:00am and noon, Mass will be presided over by Archbishop Paul Ssemogerere of Kampala Archdiocese.
Namirembe Cathedral
At St Paul Cathedral Namirembe Church, according to Rev. Samuel Muwonge, the Easter service will be held at 7am, 8:45am and 10am led by Bishop Moses Banja.
Munyonyo Martyrs' Shrine - Uganda Martyrs Basilica
According to the parish priest, Fr Ulman Male, Easter Mass will be as follows: Vigil on Saturday at 8pm. On Easter Sunday, 7am (Luganda), 9am, 11am and 12:30pm, including Mass in Latin at 10am at St Denis Chapel.
All Saints Cathedral, Nakasero
According to Rev. Canon Dr. Rebecca Nyegenya, three Easter services will be conducted at 8am, 10am and noon (12pm). Archbishop Dr Stephen Kaziimba Mugalu, the head of Church of Uganda, will be the main celebrant of the 10am service.
St Padre-Pio Catholic Parish Kabulamuliro
According to parish officials, Easter Mass times will remain as on other usual Sundays: 7am, 9am, 11am and 5pm.
Light the World Church, Nansana
According to Pastor Wilson Bugembe, their Easter programme began with overnight on Good Friday. On Easter Sunday, the four services will be held at 6am, 10am, 12pm and 2pm. There will then be an Easter show at 6pm animated by a100-member choir.
Kiyinda-Mityana Cathedral
Fr Stephen Lusiba, the parish priest, said there will be two Masses conducted on Easter Sunday. He will lead the 7am Mass while Diocesan Bishop Dr Joseph Anthony Zziwa will lead the 10am Mass.
The 17 sub-parishes will also conduct Mass.
At the cathedral, after the 10am Mass, the churchgoers will gather for a fundraising drive for the Cathedral Diamond Jubilee, which will take place on July 28 this year.
Christ the King Church, Kampala
According to parish priest Msgr Gerald Kalumba, Easter Mass will be held 7am, 8am, 9am, 10am, 11am and 12pm.
Uganda Martyrs Shrine Namugongo
According to parish secretary Francis Muwonge, Easter Mass will be at 6:30am, 8am,10am, noon (12pm) and 5pm. All the 10 sub-parishes, and five which have permanent churches, will all have Masses.
St Andrew Church of Uganda, Bukoto
According to church officials, there will be Easter service at 7am, 9am and 1pm.
St Charles Lwanga Parish, Fort Portal city
According to parish priest Fr Emmanuel Baguma, there will be six Masses as on usual Sundays: 6:30am, 7:30am, 9am, 11am (main in English), 3pm and 5pm.
The two sub-parishes will have Easter Mass at 8am and 10am. The vigil Mass started at 9pm on Saturday.
Arua Catholic Diocese
According to pastoral coordinator Fr James Edema, Easter Mass will be conducted at 7am, 9am (by the diocesan bishop) and11am.
Masaka Catholic Diocese
Fr Ronald Mayanja of Kitovu Cathedral said Mass will be at 6am, 7am, 9am, 11am and 5pm.
At Jinja Catholic Cathedral
According to Fr Kenneth Okello, the Mass will begin at 8am.
Bugonga Catholic Parish Entebbe
Here, Mass will be at 7am, 9am and 11am.
Two of the eight sub-parishes attend Mass at the parish church while the other six will each have Masss at 7am and 9am.
St Cyprian Catholic Town Parish in Hoima
Parish priest Fr Paul Bigirwa said Easter Sunday Mass will be at 6am, 7am, 8:30am (English), 10am and 5pm.
Bujumbura Catholic Cathedral (Hoima Diocese Church)
According to Parish Priest and Vicar General of Hoima, Msgr Robert Mugisha, there will be five Masses on Easter Sunday at 6am, 7am, 9am (by Bishop Vincent Kirabo Amooti), 11am and 5pm.
Lugazi Catholic Diocese
According to cathedral secretary, Agnes Ddumba, the vigil Mass on Saturday was held at 8pm. The first of two Easter Sunday Masses will be at 7:30am led by the diocesan bishop, Christopher Kakooza. The other will be at10am.
Kasana-Luwero Catholic Diocese
According to diocese officials, Easter Mass will be at 7am and 10am, led by Bishop Lawrence Mukasa.
St John Church of Uganda, Entebbe
Magaret Mutabazi, an official at the church, said Easter service will be at 7am and 10am and in Lugbar at 10am.
St Andrew's Cathedral, Namukozi
Easter service will start at 8am in English and the main one at 10am will be led by Bishop Dr James Bukomeko.
Virika Cathedral Fort Portal
According to parish priest Fr Ahabyona Titus Wiyi, Easter Mass will be at 6:30am, 8am, 10am and 11:30pm.
