Collins Dombo, the Undersecretary in the Ministry of East African Community Affairs, is dead.

Rebecca Kadaga the First Deputy Prime Minister of Uganda and Minister for East African Community Affairs announced his death via X, former Twitter.

“It is with regret that we announce the passing of Dombo Undersecretary Ministry of East African Community Affairs, a dedicated Civil servant, may his soul rest in peace,” Kadaga said.

A source at the Ministry confirmed Dombo passed away on Friday night at Aga Khan Hospital where he was rushed after he developed complications. A source at the ministry confirmed he had been rushed to the Aga Khan Hospital in Nairobi.

“About a month ago, he suddenly felt pain on his chest when he was coming back from his home and requested his driver to take him to hospital for checkup. They later found he had blood in his intestines and after an operation his condition worsened and was rushed to Aga Khan where he unfortunately passed away while receiving treatment,’ the source said.

In 2020 Dombo served as acting Office of the Prime Minister Permanent Secretary after the arrest of Christine Guwatudde Kintu, Commissioner Disaster Preparedness and Management Martin Owor, Joel Wanjara and Fred Lutimba over inflated prices of COVID-19 food procurement.

He was later transferred to the EAC ministry where he served as undersecretary.

In April 2002 Dombo was transferred to the Ministry of Public Service, as undersecretary after serving as Busia District Chief Administrative Officer.

By press time details of the burial programme and when the body would be flown back were not yet made available.

A family member however confirmed the late’s brother had flown to Nairobi on Saturday to help coordinate the repatriation of the body.
