KABALE - Police have launched an investigation into the suspected murder of a 24-year-old casual labourer whose body was discovered early Monday morning along a road in Igabiro Cell, Mwanjari Ward, Southern division, Kabale municipality.

The deceased, identified as Timothy Kamugisha, was reportedly a regular patron at a local bar owned by Docus Akampurira.

According to preliminary Police findings, Kamugisha was last seen alive on the evening of Sunday, August 11, 2025, at the same bar.

“He was already drunk when he arrived and was not served any drinks. Instead, he took something from friends. When he became dizzy, he was carried outside and placed on the veranda to recover,” said Elly Maate, the Kigezi Region Police spokesperson.

Maate added that at about midnight, the bar closed, and everyone left, leaving Kamugisha lying outside.

The next morning, at about 6:40am, his lifeless body was found along the road near the bar.

Police were alerted, and a homicide team visited, processed, and documented the scene before transporting the body to Kabale Regional Referral Hospital for a postmortem examination.

“Inquiries are ongoing to establish what exactly happened to him after he was left outside,” Maate said.
