A middle-aged man is nursing injuries sustained on Saturday when the car he was driving rammed into and damaged road barriers on Kampala—Entebbe Expressway.


The dawn incident occurred shortly after 5am at the Kajjansi Interchange. The lone driver, said to be in late 30s, sustained visibly minor injuries.

"According to preliminary reports, the speeding driver lost control, hitting the barriers. Our incident team rushed to the scene after getting the report from the 24-hour surveillance office. 

Upon evacuation from the crashed car, which had rolled after hitting the barriers, the victim, who sustained some injuries, asked to be taken to Rubaga Hospital for further management," said Allan Ssempebwa, the Senior Communications officers Ministry of Works and Transport.

He declined to name the victim, saying that the case was handed over to the Uganda Police Force for further management.

The Kampala-Entebbe Expressway requires a maximum speed of 100 km/h, with mandatory reductions to 20 km/h at toll plazas and 40 km/h at exits.

Drivers are advised to adhere to traffic laws and adjust their speed based on the speed signs on the road.

Pedestrians, cyclists, and motorbikes below 400cc are strictly prohibited.
