_______________

Shock gripped Dokolo district and Lira city on Sunday (September 21) after the deputy chief administrative officer (D/CAO) of Dokolo district, Geoffrey Epere, was found dead in a lodge in Lira city.

Epere’s body was discovered in a room at Bistro Lodge on Oyite Ojok Road on Sunday afternoon.

The Police later transferred it to Lira Regional Referral Hospital, where a post-mortem examination was carried out.

James Otto Apili, the Dokolo district chairperson, described the death as a tragic loss.

“We learned about it at around 2 pm. I went to confirm and found it true that he had died. He has served in Dokolo for only four months. The last time I saw him was on Wednesday during a Ministry of Water and Environment meeting at Gracious Palace Hotel in Lira, and he looked in good health,” Apili said.

Clan leader Patrick Okello Okok of Otengoro Olang, to which Epere belonged, said the deceased was found in a blood-soaked bed.

According to him, post-mortem results indicated liver complications.

“I think it’s a result of overdrinking and maybe other diseases. The liver was dry, causing blood to flood the stomach, veins to burst, and he vomited a lot of blood,” Okok explained.

Apili said the district is in mourning.

“It’s very unfortunate that he has passed on. As a district, we are in sorrow.”

Epere's ancestral home is found at Acandek village, Aboko parish, Aduku subcounty in Kwania district.
