The Catholic Bishop of Soroti diocese, Joseph Eciru Oliach, has urged Christians not to abandon the good practices they embraced during the fasting period, but instead remain steadfast in their faith and devotion to God.
Bishop Eciru made the call while leading a five-kilometre Way of the Cross procession from Omodoi Trading Centre to Immaculate Conception Church.

He said commemorating the crucifixion of Jesus Christ should instil a spirit of forgiveness, love, and repentance among believers.

He encouraged the faithful to reflect on their lives, seek God’s forgiveness, and commit to living righteously.
“From today onward, we should avoid sin and strive to be true followers of Jesus Christ,” he said.
“Let us surrender our burdens, failures, worries, and fears to our Lord Jesus Christ, who carried the cross to Calvary. You cannot walk the Way of the Cross without a willingness to repent.”
Soroti City East Division MP-elect Moses Okia Attan said he dedicated this year’s fasting period to thanking God for his electoral victory.
