The disbursement of Parish Development Mode (PDM) funds for Kikuube district was been launched Thursday, August 03.

It was launched by the state minister for works, Fred Byamukama at Kikuube district headquarters.

Byamukama said that the cabinet recently passed a resolution that each beneficiary will receive sh1m which will be paid back in two years.

Byamukama revealed that President Yoweri Museveni also ordered the banks not to deduct any money from the PDM beneficiaries and that the parish chiefs are going to get a bicycle and sh100,000 every month as an allowance to avoid them from charging beneficiaries.

The Buhaguzi East Member of Parliament, Asera Stephen Itaza, revealed that to make sure that the registering of PDM beneficiaries is done in time, he offered four laptop computers to the PDM field team and requested for the minister to ensure that parish chiefs are equipped with enough tools to do their work effectively.

Asera promised to work with fellow leaders in the district to ensure that the PDM program is a success.

He also asked the people to treat PDM as a baby if it is to progress and achieve the intended objective of poverty elevation.

The Kikube LCV chairman, Peter Banura, asked for cooperation among family members if they are to benefit from the program.

"I will not tolerate any person who will sabotage the PDM program in the district," he said.

PDM will benefit 2428 people from 29 parishes in the entire district. Sh2.24b will be distributed to different people.

Yesterday (Thursday) over 600 people received funds on their mobile phones instantly. Two banks, Opportunity and DFCU are implementing the program in Kikuube.
