The Minister of State for Children and Youth Affairs, Balaam Barugahara, has asked the people of Masindi to desist from hatred and embrace unity for the development of the district.
He made the call on Thursday, January 02 December, during the burial of Joseph Kaliisa Atwooki, who was the LC1 Chairman for Kibwona Cell in Karujubu Division, Masindi Municipality.
Barugahara said that hatred and lack of unity have crippled the development of Masindi.
He, therefore, implored the community members to work, unite and embrace government programs.
He also said government programs such as PDM, and Emyooga among others were initiated to benefit all citizens despite relationship or political differences.
Barugahara also asked the electorates to vote for people who are capable of service delivery despite the political party differences.
The Minister also challenged the Banyoro to return home and invest in their respective areas to develop them.
On the other hand, Barugahara warned farmers with small pieces of land against venturing into sugarcane growing rather than embracing coffee farming.
The late Joseph Kaliisa Atwooki served as LC1 Chairman for Kibwona for 25 years and is survived by a widow and children.
