A 1.5-acre farm in Kibaale district has won presidential praise after showcasing how integrated farming can deliver household income and food security.
President Yoweri Museveni visited the Busesa Demonstration Farm in Buyanja East Constituency on September 20, 2025, where owner Richard Lubega runs cattle, piggery, rabbit and poultry enterprises.
His poultry unit alone produces about 75 trays of eggs every day.
“I’m impressed by what this man is doing at this farm. I can see he has one cow, so I'm giving him sh12 million shillings to buy two more cows,” President Museveni told residents after the tour.
The demonstration farm is part of a broader government strategy to promote commercial agriculture on small holdings.
Museveni also inspected a 4-acre model farm run by transport state minister Fred Byamukama and other model farmers before addressing a rally in Hoima district.
The President was accompanied by Prime Minister Robinah Nabbanja, finance minister Matia Kasaija and other government leaders.
